Out-Of-Towners Discover The City

LexisNexis' kick-off party for guests to meet each other and their host city.

The Challenge:
Every year, LexisNexis hosts the American Association of Law Librarians (AALL) convention in a new city. The opening event is always a gala reception for guests to reconnect and, simultaneously, discover their new location. But, how to share a taste of the full city from a single ballroom?

The Solution:
Explore Portland through three distinctive neighborhoods into the party:

  • The Pearl — an uptown culture district, represented by Moonstruck Chocolates, crystal martini bar and a working Skidmore fountain
  • East Bank — a funky neighborhood spread with crushed orange tablecloths, mismatched lamps, bicycles and delicious Voodoo Donuts
  • Downtown — the always-alive city center, dressed with a scrolling theatre marquee, espresso bar, living statue and dance floor under a projected city map

The Results:
The two-hour event gave national visitors a taste of three neighborhoods they could easily visit in the days to come. It was an energetic, bar-raising beginning to the five-day conference.

The scenes and setting were so cool. Definitely our best opening experience ever!— Global Event Manager, LexisNexis
